"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars"

^^ I'm also sort of collecting ballads/sad song however you wanna call them. But as I went through my collection, I realised that the most sad songs I love aren't from the bands I listen to mostly.. or at least not as much as expected.. weird...

all the sad stuff from Apocalyptica!!
Aerosmith - Dream on
Backyard Babies - Painkiller, Saved by the Bell
Crashdiet - it's a miracle (it's kinda sad isn't it?), Our Moment
Die Ärzte - komm zurück (german "punk" band)
Die Toten Hosen - Unstreblich (obviously also german band)
Guano Apes - Quietly
Hardcore Superstar - Hope for a normal life
Howard Shore - Gollum's Song
Metallica - Nothing else matters (of course), Until it Sleeps
Michael Monroe - Telephone Bill's All mine
My Cemical Romance (yeah I know  ) - Welcome to the black parade
No Doubt - Don't Speak
Placebo - Song to say goodbye
Queen - Spread your Wings
Rammstein - Ohne Dich
Sentenced - Guilt and Regret
Simon & Garfunkel - the Boxer
Velvet Revolver - Loving the Alien
Megadeth - A tout le Monde
Babylon Bombs - Proud
Cinderella - Nobody's fool
Kiss - Beth
SixxA:M - Prey for Me
WASP - heaven's hung in Black
Guns N Roses - Patience, Civil War
HIM - Sleepwalking past Hope
Nirvana - Lake of Fire
Ozzy - here for you
Private Line - Alive, Sound Advice
Skid Row - I rember you, 18 and Life
Paddy goes to Holyhead (a german folk rock band I already listend to when I was 7 years old and prabaly allways will!)- Love Song No. 90

pretty long list.. makes me look extremely depressive now  but I'm almost sure I didn't forget one now

I sat and listend to my fathers collection of David Bowie records yesterday, and there is a lot of great stuff... for example:

Cygnet Committee (the best one!)
Drowned Girl
Can You Hear Me
Word On A Wing
Rock'n'roll Suicide
Sorrow
The Prettiest Star

...and so on. One of the greatest artist ever!

Let's see here...

Crashdiet - Falling Rain
Crashdiet - It's a miracle

Europe - A Mother's Son
Europe - In My Time (my god! that guitar solo... those lyrics... if I'm in a bad mood this song is sure to make me weep)

Crucified Barbara - Jennyfer
Hardcore Superstar - Hope for a normal life

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again (while the music is pretty upbeat and nice, the lyrics are kinda sad to me)

And that's all I can think of right now

When I listen to that one I just think of the singalongs at the Europe concerts I've been to, which makes me incredibly happy. But it really is kind of a sad song...
