CRASHDÏET - Generation Wild (5/6)
In Schweden lebt der Sleazerock authentischer als irgendwo anders auf der Welt weiter. Crashdiet sind die Speerspitze der New Wave of Swedish Sleazerock. Das Debüt der Band "Rest in Sleaze" von 2005 ist eine der besten, wenn nicht sogar die beste Sleaze-Scheibe aller Zeiten - ungeachtet der Bedeutung von Bands wie Skid Row oder Mötley Crüe. Crashdiet klingen so original nach Sunset Strip, dass einem die Sonne aus dem Allerwertesten scheint. Der Himmel schien die Grenze für die junge Band zu sein, dann starb Sänger Dave Lepard. Sein Nachfolger H. Olliver Twisted überzeugte auf dem Zweitlingswerk "The unattractive revolution" nur auf "In the raw" so richtig und musste dann auch wieder gehen. Auf der vorligenden dritten Scheibe singt demzufolge bereits der dritte Sänger - und Simon Cruz füllt die Lücke, die Lepard hinterlassen hat, zumindest gesanglich gänzlich. Crashdiet sind mit "Wild Generation" so stark wie beim Debüt, manchmakl stärker, weil variabler. So findet man zu den bereits bekannten Skid Row, W.A.S.P. oder Mötley Crüe-Sounds auch noch andere Helden der End-Achtziger im Bandsound wieder. White Lion ist so ein Name, den man bei "Down with the dust" überdeutlich hört. Die ersten fünf Songs der Scheibe sind absolute Volltreffer, der Titeltrack "Generation Wild" sicher einer der stärksten Songs der Bandgeschichte. Crashdiet gehen derart ambitioniert und gekonnt zu Werke, dass man auch glauben könnte, diese CD sei 1989 erschienen und in Jack Daniels-geschwängerten L.A.-Studios aufgenommen worden. Wenn man partout etwas zu meckern finden möchte, könnte das wenige facettenreiche Gitarrensolospiel von Martin Sweet ein Ansatzpunkt sein. Sweet schüttelt zu oft die gleichen Slash-artigen Licks aus den Ärmeln, doch wir jammern hier auf verdammt hohem Niveau. [5/6]

In Sweden, Sleazerock lives more authentic than anywhere else in this world. Crashdïet are the Spearhead of the New Wave of Swedish Sleaze. The band's debut “Rest In Sleaze” from 2005 is one of the best, if not even the best Sleaze-disc of all times- not regarding the significance of bands like Skid Row or Mötley Crüe. Crashdïet sounds that original like sunset strip that the sun shines out your sit-upon. Only the sky seemed to be the limit for the young band, but then singer Dave Lepard died. On the second album “The Unattractive Revolution” his follow-up H. Olliver Twisted convinced only with “In the Raw” for real. And then he already had to leave. Therefore it's already the third singer who sings on the third disc at hand – and Simon Cruz fills the gap Lepard left to the hilt, at least concerning the singing aspects. With “Generation Wild” Crashdïet are as strong as on the debut, sometimes stronger as it's more variable. So additional to the already known Skid Row, W.A.S.P. or Mötley Crüe sounds you can find other end-80s heroes in the band's sound.
White Lion is such a name one gets clearly out of “Down with the dust”. The first five tracks on the disc completetly hit the bull's eye. The titeltrack “Generation Wild” is surely one of the strongest songs in the band's history. Crashdïet handle it so ambitious and skillfully that one could think this CD was released in 1989 and recorded in Jack Daniel's soaked LA studios.
If you insist in finding something to nag about Martin Sweet's sparsely faceted guitar solo play could be a starting point. Sweet knocks out the the same Slash-like licks to often, but we're wailing on a damn high level here. [5/6]
