Anyone mind explaining?

I don't think that's the case here really. Just a disagreement in taste. Of course the music comes first, although if the band looks good as well that's just a plus, right?

Like WaspGirl said, that isn't really the case here. I do think that the music is most important, but if the band looks good, there's nothing wrong with pointing that out :)

They have already been suggested here, but not emphasized as much as they deserve: Gasoline Queen!!

Check out www.gasolinequeen.com and download the 4 mp3s of their promo, very well produced and recorded. They're a blast!!! 8-)

And yet, none of you mentioned Tokyo Dragons, a band who rocks hard on cd and even harder live, so if you have the chance go to see them!!!!

none of you mentioned Gemini Five: www.geminifive.com

the first album is a must, the second has its fine moments but has too much "nu" on it.

sorry!
I was late. hehehe

Ask me anything about Japanese 80's Rock bands. (Especially Metal)

X Japan (X), Loudness, Anthem, 44 magnum, E.Z.O are known a little in Europe.
In 80's there were lots of metal bands in Japan...

But I remember especially "COLOR", "Dead End", "Kamaitachi", "D'ERLANGER", "SAVER TIGER", "Ladies Room", "Tokyo Yankees" etc....

People said " There is X in East of Japan, There is COLOR in west of Japan ".
X and COLOR led Japanese Metal bands in those days....very amazing days...
They were very "brothers".
(X and COLOR was so intimate friends)
Many bands followed X and COLOR.

After long time.....X became a super star band in Japan.
But COLOR was too extreme to succeed in major.
(COLOR's gig always seemed to be a riot, and a fan died at last.
And....there were many episodes....The major label was not able to take care of them well, that's really sad!!)

Anyway, Dynamite Tommy who was a leader of COLOR is a producer of "Dir en grey" now.

This is a part of stories of Japanese Metal bands in 80's.

This is a pic of COLOR
(I couldn't add this attachment. ???)

Thank you for that history lesson in Japanese bands. You know I'm not good at them at all. I "only" know about X!

hehe, you're welcome!
A lot of memories begin to overflow....
My important bands of Japan gave me many love and hate....
Some died, some are alive.
But their music and all memories of gigs are alive in my mind still now.
