If a black man is racist, is it okay?
If it's the white man's racism that made him that way,
Because the bully's the victim they say,
By some sense they're all the same.

Because the line between,
Wrong and right,
Is the width of a thread,
From a spider's web.
The piano keys are black and white,
But they sound like a million colours in your mind.

I could tell you to go to war,
Or I could march for peace and fighting no more,
How do I know which is right,
And I hope he does when he sends you to fight.

Because the line between wrong and right,
Is the width of a thread from a spider's web,
The piano keys are black and white,
But they sound like a million colours in your mind.

Should we act on a blame?
Or should we chase the moments away?
Should we live?
Should we give?
Remember forever the guns and the feathers in time.
Because the line between wrong and right,
Is the width of a thread from a spider's web,
The piano keys are black and white,
But they sound like a million colours in your mind.
The piano keys are black and white,
But they sound like a million colours in your mind,
But they sound like a million colours in your mind

-Katie Melua, Spider's web

I agree with this 100%

 Yeah, Kapten Röd has Awesome lyrics which are often very serious and sometimes very funny at the same time

Anna: Hmm, didn't like that one...the examples and so on.

Now:

"Rubin Carter was falsely tried
The crime was murder 'one' guess who testified
Bello and Bradley and they both baldly lied
And the newspapers they all went along for the ride
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand ?
To see him obviously framed
Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game."

Bob Dylan - Hurricane
My favourite of his songs. The whole lyrics to that song (which is VERY LONG) is just fantastic, sad, powerful and all around great. If you know the story/have seen the movie, it's almost impossible not to love that song :)

No but seriously, maybe I rushed my judgement of the lyrics. It's hard to know if you like them or not when you don't know if you really understand them (what she means).
I guess these are the parts I have the most problems with:

"If a black man is racist, is it okay?
If it's the white man's racism that made him that way,"...
I think this subject is mostly taken up by people who are racists and use false truths too help their filthy beliefs. And the false truth I'm talking about is that "people think it's ok if a Black guy is racist". Now she hopefully doesn't mean it that way, but since Idk...I don't like the vibe I'm getting from it.

and this:
"I could tell you to go to war,
Or I could march for peace and fighting no more,
How do I know which is right,
And I hope he does when he sends you to fight. "

Hopefully she's just pointing out that it's hard for some people to know because they've been told so many different things about it during their lifetime.
But to me, even just bringing up the possibility that it would be right to start war and send people to war...just stings in my eyes and heart.

Maybe what I wrote is hard to understand, but I tried the best I could in my "second language" to explain how I feel when I read the lyrics.

PS. I do like the refrain though :P

does make total sense.
I guess I don't know ofc how she means it aswell, but I could say what I would mean if I'd sing that song. It's just questions over question and it's (for me) really about what is right and what is wrong. and it's sometimes so hard to keep apart. So to the first, really, is it okay, or lets say understandable wehn black people become racist, because they experienced nothing but racism themselves? like "white people judge me"... that happens quite alot actually. My father used to allow a camp of Roma stay over winter on his grounds when I was little. They respected him, but they hated the rest of "us". simply because we belonged to the same ethnical group of people that burned them, judged them and discriminated them for 100s and 100s of years. I can understand them and feel their pain, yet it pisses me off because I did nothing wrong to them. But then again is it fair I'm pissed at them for judging me? get my point? it seems so hard to take apart whos right and who's wrong. maybe noone is. maybe both parties are.

as for the second part, I'm a pacifist. I'm absolutely against War in all its form and for what ever reason. Yet still I think theres sometimes (and those situations are really really rare) moments when you have to go to war. Theres things worth fighting for. I know that theoretically Ghandis peaceful resistence should always be an option but what if you run into madmen, serious madmen like Hitler? WWII was necessary. If the alliated countries wouldn't have went to war... what then? I don't even want to think about it.

I guess for me it's that never ending story of everything having two sides to it or more and how to find your way between all that mess, because it's so terribly hard to do the right thing.

My favourite lyrics right now are by swedish artist Thåström, I'll try to translate them...

I kvarteren bakom stationen
Jag frågade poeterna som satt där på rad
De bara glodde kaninögda rakt fram
Till slut, till slut sa de, va kan vi om sånt?

Kärlek är för dom, dom som har tur
Kärlek är för dom, dom som har tur

I stand by the window in a house at the sea
I saw here approaching through the garden there
I don't think she knew I saw or heard but I saw
And I heard her, singing quietly to herself

Love are for those, those with luck
Love are for those, those with luck
Love are for those, Love are for those, Love are for those

I drow down towards the golden city
Asked the girls that stood by the road
The just stared against the ground and said sir,
You don't know a thing, you don't know a thing

Love are for those, those with luck
Love are for those, those with luck
Love are for those, Love are for those, Love are for those

In the alley behind the station
I asked the poets that sat in a row
They just gazed rabbit-eyed ahead
In the end, in the end they said, what do we know of that?

Love are for those, those with luck
Love are for those, those with luck

... which brings me back to D-A-D: "Id rather be lucky than wise and smart."

might as well add some german lyrics here too that I love:

du versuchst mich zu retten
und bist selbst am ertrinken
zwei Nichtschwimmer,
die um ihr Leben winken
denn die Liebe ist ein Meer
mit gefährlichen Wellen
du musst ganz tief tauchen,
zu den allertiefsten Stellen

"You try to save me
and are drowning yourself
two non-swimmers who wave for their lives
Coz Love is a ocean with dangerous waves
we have to dive real deep
to the deepest points."

"They slit our throats
Like we were flowers
And our milk has been devoured

When you want it
It goes away too fast
Times u hate it
It always seems to last
But just remember when you think you're free
The crack inside you fucking heart is me
I wanna outrace the speed of pain for another day

I wish I could sleep
But I can't lay on my back
Because ther's a knife
For everyday that I've known you

When you want it
It goes away yoo fast
Times u hate it
It always seems to last
But just remember when you think you're free
The crack inside your fucking heart is me

I wanna outrace the speed of pain for another day

Lie to me, cry to me, give to me
I would
Lie with me, die with me, give to me
I would
Keep all your secrets wrapped in dead hair
I hope at least we die holding hands for always"

The lyrics talk for themself. This is a masterpiece.

Marilyn Manson - Speed Of Pain

Such a great chorus.

And all that is holy, holy shall be...
Let the light bless and
let these words proclaim the blessing.
Let the seal be broken and let the light prevail

Yes it's fair that you're pissed at them. Because no one should judge people by ethnicity or skincolour. We should simply judge every individual as an individual :)

Me too. Though there's a VERY fine line between defence and "real war" :S

I will walk this ground forever
and stand guard against your name.
I will give all I can offer,
I will shoulder all the blame.
I am sentry to you now,
all your hopes and all your dreams.
I will hold you to the light,
that's what forever means.

This is the chorus from Linkin Park song In The End

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
And lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
